The pandemic has taught us that working remotely is here to stay for so many of us. Some embraced this whole heartedly, while others found themselves confined to tiny spaces in urban centres and were left looking at the same four walls – day in and day out.

Some of the best weather in Canada
First, Niagara offers some of the best weather in Canada. Being shielded by the Niagara Escarpment makes for short, mild winters and I don’t know about you, but the less I have to shovel, the happier I am.
Longer warmer climate makes it ideal to enjoy outdoor activities such as golf, water sports or cycling, long after your friends and family in other parts of the Province have tucked their gear away for the Season. In fact, I “socially distanced” on my personal watercraft well into the Fall.
Endless scenic trails
Next up, let’s talk about the endless scenic trails we have to offer. Bike enthusiasts can enjoy a 140 km path through waterfront and woodlands that takes you on quite the adventure.
The Region is also a hikers paradise for all levels of expertise. For those that like a rugged excursion, the Bruce Trail might fit the bill and honestly offers some of Ontario’s finest hiking through the Niagara Escarpment from Queenston Heights to Grimsby.
If a casual stroll is more your speed, there is an abundance of scenic walking trails through wooded conservations areas and paved paths along the extensive Welland canal. There’s even the Friendship Trail that is over 13 km in length that extends from Ridgeway to Historic Fort Erie.
Enjoy a good winery?
After all that exercise, I think it’s time you reward yourself with a trip to one of the Region’s many wineries. And that brings us to our third (and my personal favourite) reason to consider relocating to Niagara.
When you see the beautiful vineyards, it’s clear that this is wine country. From Niagara on the Lake to Jordan or Beamsville, this area is home to over 100 wineries, big and small.
Whether you are a lover of wine or not, a wine tour is a must and is so much fun. Just the scenery alone is worth it.
Like so many in the hospitality industry, our wineries have done an excellent job of pivoting when necessary throughout the pandemic to offer outdoor patios for our continued enjoyment – and with the added stress that Covid 19 has put on us all, it’s not surprising the wine industry has flourished!
Affordability
While there are endless reasons to move to the Niagara Region, the fourth and final one I’ll share with you is that this area is simply more affordable compared to other parts of Ontario.
In 2021, the average price of a detached home in Ottawa sold for $719K and in Toronto for $1.44 Million. Compare that with $649K right here in Niagara.
